Description

The Catalyst 9400 48-port 10G multigigabit UPOE+ line card is built for the modular Catalyst 9400 chassis, supplying data and power over one cable to Wi-Fi 6/6E access points, security and thermal cameras, digital signage, LED lighting and large displays. This SKU is the bundle-ordering PID for one C9400-LC-48HX line card.

It provides 48 RJ-45 ports supporting 10GBASE-T, 5G, 2.5G, 1000M and 100M multigigabit speeds, with Cisco UPOE+ (IEEE 802.3bt) delivering up to 90W per port. Ports are nonblocking, with 480 Gbps per slot when paired with a C9400X-SUP-2XL supervisor (1:1) or 240 Gbps per slot with a C9400X-SUP-2 (2:1). Hardware MACsec-256 and jumbo frames up to 9216 bytes are supported. The card occupies one slot and has a maximum rated power of 270 W. The line card itself carries no licence; software tiers are purchased with the host chassis and supervisor.

It works in the C9404R, C9407R and C9410R chassis and requires a C9400X-SUP-2 or C9400X-SUP-2XL supervisor running Cisco IOS XE 17.8 or later.

FAQs

Q: Does this line card need a licence?
A: The line card hardware has no licence of its own. The host Catalyst 9400 runs Cisco IOS XE with Network Essentials or Network Advantage tiers, purchased with the chassis and supervisor. The bundle PID does not add a licence tier.

Q: Which chassis and supervisors does it work with?
A: It fits the Catalyst 9400 chassis C9404R, C9407R and C9410R. It requires a C9400X-SUP-2 or C9400X-SUP-2XL supervisor running Cisco IOS XE 17.8 or later.

Q: How much PoE can it deliver?
A: Each port supplies up to 90W with UPOE+. Total PoE capacity depends on the chassis power supplies, for example 226 ports at full 90W on a C9407R or 224 on a C9410R at maximum power.

Q: How does C9400-LC-48HX-B1 differ from C9400-LC-48HX?
A: The -B1 SKU is the bundle-ordering PID covering one C9400-LC-48HX line card for Bundle Select. The port count, speeds and UPOE+ capability are the same as the line card.

Q: What bandwidth does each slot provide?
A: With a C9400X-SUP-2XL supervisor the card gets 480 Gbps per slot (1:1). With a C9400X-SUP-2 it gets 240 Gbps per slot (2:1).
