Description

The ONS 15216 LC fixed optical attenuator is a passive inline fibre-optic component that reduces optical signal power by a set 10 dB. It suits fibre patch panels and DWDM or optical transport links where a fixed power reduction is needed to protect receivers and balance link budgets.

This variant provides 10 dB of fixed attenuation with LC connectors for inline installation. It is a passive device, so it needs no power and no licence. Typical uses include preventing receiver overload on short or high-power fibre runs and trimming optical levels so they sit within the receiver's operating window.

It is part of the Cisco ONS 15216 optical family, which also includes 5 dB and 15 dB attenuators. It works with Cisco ONS 15216 platforms such as the 4-channel OADM, the 8-channel CWDM mux/demux module and the optical filter, and is used as a spare attenuator on 10GBASE SFP+ long-reach links.
