Description

This 10G SFP+ bidirectional (BiDi) optical transceiver supports 10GBASE-ER over a single strand of single-mode fibre with a reach of up to 30km. It transmits at 1270 nm and receives at 1330 nm through an LC simplex connector, which halves the fibre count needed for long-distance 10G links. It suits campus backbone, metro and inter-building uplinks, and must be paired with a matching transceiver at the far end using the opposite wavelength pair (Tx1330/Rx1270 nm).

FAQs

Q: What is the maximum reach of this transceiver?
A: It supports 10GBASE-ER BiDi links of up to 30km over single-mode fibre.

Q: Does it need a matching transceiver at the other end?
A: Yes. This unit transmits at 1270 nm and receives at 1330 nm, so the far end needs a BiDi transceiver with the opposite wavelength pair, transmitting at 1330 nm and receiving at 1270 nm.

Q: What fibre and connector does it use?
A: It uses a single strand of single-mode fibre terminated with an LC simplex connector.

Q: How many fibre strands does a link require?
A: One. The bidirectional design sends and receives on different wavelengths over the same strand, so each link needs half the fibre of a standard duplex 10G optic.
