FAQs

Q: What fiber and connector are required?
A: Use OM3 or OM4 multimode fiber with an MPO-12 (MTP) male trunk cable; Type-B polarity is commonly used for SR4 links.

Q: What is the maximum reach?
A: Up to 70 m over OM3 and up to 100 m over OM4 under IEEE link budgets.

Q: Can this module break out to 4x25G?
A: Yes, it supports 4x25GbE breakout when used with compatible breakout cabling and switch features.

Q: Does it interoperate with other vendors’ SR4 optics?
A: Yes, as long as both ends are standards-compliant 100GBASE-SR4 and properly cabled.

Q: Can 100G SR4 link to a 40G SR4 optic?
A: No. Both ends must operate at the same speed and standard. For 25G, use breakout with supported hardware.

Q: Is it Ethernet-only?
A: Yes, this transceiver is specified for Ethernet rate only.
