Description

High-density breakout DAC for splitting a single 400G QSFP56-DD port into four 100G QSFP28 links. Passive copper construction delivers ultra-low latency and power-free operation, ideal for short-reach top-of-rack and leaf–spine interconnects. MSA-compliant signaling supports 400GBASE-CR8 on the DD side and 100GBASE-CR4 on the QSFP28 legs.

Features

- 400G QSFP56-DD to 4x100G QSFP28 high-density breakout
- Passive copper design for zero power consumption and minimal latency
- Standards-based 400GBASE-CR8/100GBASE-CR4 interoperability
- Tool-less latch mechanisms for quick installs in dense racks
- Robust 26AWG conductors for signal integrity at short reach
- MSA compliant for broad platform compatibility

FAQs

Q: Will this cable work with my switch or router?
A: It fits any QSFP56-DD 400G port that supports 1x4 breakout into four QSFP28 100G ports. Check your platform’s datasheet to confirm breakout support and coding requirements.

Q: Is FEC required?
A: Yes. Breakout operation at 400G/100G generally requires RS-FEC as specified by the relevant Ethernet standards.

Q: Can I use this as a straight-through 400G or 100G cable?
A: No. This is a 1x4 breakout assembly specifically for 400G-to-4x100G applications.

Q: What is the difference between DAC and AOC versions?
A: DAC is passive copper for ultra-low latency and lowest cost at very short distances. AOC is active optical for longer reach and improved EMI immunity.

Q: Does it support digital diagnostics (DDM/DOM)?
A: Passive DAC segments typically do not provide optical diagnostics; link information is limited to electrical interfaces.

Q: What environments is this rated for?
A: Standard temperature 0–70°C. For extended temperature needs, use a variant specifically rated for that range.
