Description

QSFP-DD800 short-reach module providing two independent 400G VR4 links over multimode fiber up to 50 m (OM4). Designed for 800G ports operating in 2x400G breakout within high-density leaf/spine rows and TOR aggregation. Uses 850 nm VCSEL-based parallel optics with dual MPO-12 connectors; host-side FEC required. Supports DOM and interoperates with MSA-compliant 400GBASE-VR4 ports using MPO-12.

Features

- 2x400G short-reach links from a single QSFP-DD800 module
- VR4 parallel optics optimized for MMF in dense racks
- Dual MPO-12 interfaces for streamlined cabling
- DOM support for visibility into optical performance
- KP4 FEC compatibility for stable 400G PAM4 links
- Ideal for TOR-to-spine or spine-to-spine short runs

FAQs

Q: What cabling is required?
A: Two OM4 MMF trunks with MPO-12 connectors—one per 400G link.

Q: Is it interoperable with other VR4 modules?
A: Yes, it interops with MSA-compliant 400GBASE-VR4 using MPO-12.

Q: Can I exceed 50 m on OM4?
A: 50 m is the typical maximum; actual reach depends on loss and quality. Use low-loss MPO trunks.

Q: Does it support DOM?
A: Yes, digital diagnostics monitoring is supported.

Q: Does the host need to support breakout?
A: Yes, the 800G port must support 2x400G breakout mode.
