Q: What type of fiber and connectors does this module require?
A: This transceiver requires single-mode fiber with 9/125 µm core/cladding diameter, terminated with duplex LC/UPC connectors. For maximum reach, use OS2-grade single-mode fiber with attenuation around 0.4 dB/km. OS1 fiber (typically 1 dB/km) is acceptable for shorter runs. The module transmits and receives at 1310nm, so both fiber strands operate at the same wavelength. Ensure TX on one end connects to RX on the far end.

Q: Does this module support 20km reach on all fiber types?
A: The 20km specification assumes low-loss OS2 single-mode fiber and clean, properly terminated LC connectors. Actual reach depends on total link loss budget: this module provides approximately 10-11 dB of optical budget, which supports 20km over OS2 fiber (0.4 dB/km) plus connector and splice losses. Higher-loss OS1 fiber or dirty connectors will reduce maximum distance. Use the DOM function to monitor received signal strength and verify adequate margin on installed links.

Q: Can I access DOM data on Checkpoint appliances running Gaia OS?
A: Yes. Checkpoint Gaia OS exposes SFP diagnostic data through the command-line interface and can be queried via SNMP. Use CLI commands to read TX/RX power, temperature, and voltage from the transceiver's internal sensors.
