Description

The CPAC-TR-100SR-D-BCC is a drop-in compatible replacement for the Check Point CPAC-TR-100SR-D. This QSFP28 transceiver provides plug-and-play compatibility with Check Point security appliances requiring 100GBASE-SR4 connectivity. - IEEE 802.3bm 100GBASE-SR4 compliance guarantees interoperability with standards-compliant 100G Ethernet infrastructure - QSFP28 form factor with MPO-12 connector, 850nm wavelength, 100Gb/s data rate over multi-mode fibre - Reaches 100m over OM4 fibre and 70m over OM3 fibre for short-reach data centre and backbone applications - Digital diagnostic monitoring (DDM) support for real-time visibility into optical power, temperature, bias current, and supply voltage - Four independent 25G optical lanes using VCSEL technology, supporting breakout to 4x25GBASE-SR via MPO-to-LC cabling - Hot-swappable installation allows field replacement without powering down adjacent ports or interrupting host operation

Features

• Four parallel 25.78125 GBd optical lanes aggregate to 103.125 Gbps total throughput using NRZ modulation, with each lane operating independently over an 8-fibre MPO ribbon cable
• VCSEL laser array at 850nm transmits across OM3 50/125 µm or OM4 50/125 µm multi-mode fibre, with OM4 delivering the full 100m reach and OM3 limited to 70m due to modal bandwidth
• Compliant with QSFP28 MSA, SFF-8636 management interface, and SFF-8665 cage specifications, enabling hot-swap capability in any MSA-compliant QSFP28 host port
• Supports 4x25G breakout configurations via MPO-to-LC fan-out cables, allowing each 25G lane to connect to a separate 25GBASE-SR SFP28 port for flexible top-of-rack to server connectivity
• No forward error correction (FEC) integrated in the SR4 PMD layer; host-side Reed-Solomon FEC (RS-FEC) is configured at the switch port independently of the module when required by the link
• DDM provides real-time monitoring of transmit and receive optical power per lane, module temperature, laser bias current, and supply voltage via the I2C management interface without external tools
• Commercial temperature range (0 to 70°C) and single +3.3V supply operation fit standard data centre environmental conditions and power delivery specifications

FAQs

Q: Will this work in place of the Check Point CPAC-TR-100SR-D?
A: Yes. This module implements the same 100GBASE-SR4 standard (IEEE 802.3bm) with identical QSFP28 form factor, 850nm wavelength, and MPO-12 connector. It is a plug-and-play replacement for the CPAC-TR-100SR-D in Check Point Quantum Force 9700, 9800, 19200, 29000, and MHO-140/MHO-175 appliances.

Q: Which Check Point appliances support this transceiver?
A: This transceiver is compatible with Check Point appliances equipped with QSFP28 100G ports, including Quantum Force 9700, 9800, 19200, 29000 series, and MHO-140 and MHO-175 orchestrators. Confirm your appliance has QSFP28 slots supporting 100GBASE-SR4 operation.

Q: Can I use OM3 fibre instead of OM4, and how does it affect reach?
A: Yes, the module supports OM3 fibre but with reduced reach. OM3 50/125 µm fibre delivers 70m maximum distance due to its 2000 MHz·km modal bandwidth at 850nm, while OM4 50/125 µm fibre with 4700 MHz·km bandwidth extends reach to the full 100m specified by IEEE 802.3bm. OM5 works at the same 100m as OM4 for SR4 wavelengths.

Q: Does this module support breakout to four separate 25G connections?
A: Yes. Each of the four 25G lanes is independent and can be broken out using an MPO-12 to 4x LC duplex fan-out cable. Each resulting LC pair supports a 25GBASE-SR link to an SFP28 port over the same fibre type and reach limits (70m OM3, 100m OM4). The host switch must support 4x25G breakout mode on the QSFP28 port.

Q: What is the MTP/MPO polarity requirement for SR4 links?
A: The QSFP28 module has a female (unpinned) MPO receptacle. For a direct link between two SR4 transceivers, use a male-to-male MPO-12 trunk cable with Type B polarity (key-up to key-down crossover) so transmit lanes on one end align with receive lanes on the other. For breakout via cassettes or fan-out assemblies, follow the structured cabling polarity method (Type A, B, or C) documented in your fibre infrastructure.
