Description

Modular PCIe Gen4 expansion node for X-Series chassis, enabling high-performance GPU, NIC, and NVMe add-in cards for compute nodes via the low-latency X-Fabric. This configuration includes Riser Type B with two half-height, half-length slots for flexible accelerator or I/O expansion. Powered and cooled by the chassis; assignment to compute nodes is handled through centralized management.

Features

- High-bandwidth PCIe Gen4 expansion for modern accelerators
- Type B riser: dual HHHL slots for flexible I/O and accelerator options
- Low-latency X-Fabric attachment to compute nodes
- Centralized assignment and lifecycle management
- Chassis-supplied power and cooling—no extra cabling
- Tool-less sled installation for rapid serviceability
- Ideal for adding GPUs, high-speed NICs, or NVMe accelerators

FAQs

Technical Specifications

FAQs

Q: What is included with the Type B configuration?
A: It ships with the Type B riser installed, providing two HHHL PCIe Gen4 slots.

Q: Which compute nodes can use this PCIe node?
A: It attaches over the X-Fabric to compatible X-Series compute nodes in the same chassis.

Q: Can I install GPUs in the Type B riser?
A: Yes, if the GPU is HHHL and meets the chassis’ power and thermal limits; check approved card lists.

Q: Does this require additional power cables?
A: No. Power and cooling are provided by the chassis through the sled interface.

Q: How is the PCIe node mapped to a server?
A: Mapping is configured through centralized management, assigning the node to a target compute node via the X-Fabric.

Q: Is hot-swap supported for add-in cards?
A: Service procedures may require powering down the mapped node; follow platform service guidelines for card changes.
