FAQs

Q: What is the difference between the N9K-C93108TC-FX and N9K-C93108TC-FX24?
A: The N9K-C93108TC-FX24 is a port-licensed variant with 24 active 10GBASE-T ports out of 48 total physical ports, whereas the N9K-C93108TC-FX has all 48 ports active. Both share the same hardware platform and uplink configuration (6 x 40/100G QSFP28).

Q: Does this switch support Power over Ethernet (PoE)?
A: No, the N9K-C93108TC-FX24 does not support PoE or PoE+. It is designed for data center applications where power is supplied directly to connected servers and appliances.

Q: What licensing options are available for this model?
A: The N9K-C93108TC-FX24 supports NX-OS Essentials and NX-OS Advantage licensing tiers. Essentials includes base Layer 2 and Layer 3 features, while Advantage adds advanced routing, VXLAN, and security capabilities. The switch can also run Cisco ACI for policy-based automation.

Q: Can I use existing Cat6 or Cat6A cabling with this switch?
A: Yes, the 10GBASE-T ports are designed to work with standard Cat6 or Cat6A copper cabling, supporting 100M, 1G, and 10G speeds. This allows for easy brownfield migrations without requiring new fiber infrastructure.

Q: What uplink transceiver types are supported in the QSFP28 ports?
A: The QSFP28 uplink ports support 40G and 100G transceivers, including 40GBASE-SR4, 100GBASE-SR4, 100GBASE-LR4, and compatible DAC/AOC cables. The ports provide flexible migration options for spine connectivity in leaf-spine architectures.
