Description

The Cisco CAB-SPWR-30CM is a short StackPower interconnect cable for Cisco Catalyst stackable switches. It carries a Cisco proprietary StackPower connector at each end and links the StackPower ports on the back of adjacent switches so their power supplies work as one shared pool. It suits access-layer closets and other stacks where PoE loads need extra power capacity or power redundancy.

This version is 30 cm long and black, designed for switches mounted directly next to each other in the rack. Longer StackPower cables, such as 150 cm lengths, are available when switches are spaced further apart. The cable is passive and draws no power of its own. A StackPower stack supports up to four switches and can run in power-sharing or redundant (N+1) mode, so one extra power supply in any member can add capacity or protect the whole stack.

It works with Catalyst 3750-X and Catalyst 3850 switches. StackPower cables are separate from StackWise data stacking cables and the two are not interchangeable. The cable itself needs no licence, while the StackPower feature on the switches is available from LAN Base upwards.

FAQs

Q: Does the CAB-SPWR-30CM need a licence?
A: No licence is needed for the cable itself. The StackPower feature on the switches is available at LAN Base or higher, so check the licence level on your switches.

Q: Which switches does this StackPower cable work with?
A: It works with Cisco Catalyst 3750-X and Catalyst 3850 switches. For other Catalyst models, confirm StackPower support against that switch's datasheet.

Q: Can I use this cable for StackWise data stacking?
A: No. StackPower cables carry power between switches and are not interchangeable with StackWise data stacking cables, which need to be cabled separately.

Q: How does the 30 cm cable differ from the longer StackPower cables?
A: Only the length differs. The 30 cm version suits switches mounted directly next to each other, while longer StackPower cables such as 150 cm cover switches spaced further apart.

Q: How many switches can share power in a StackPower stack?
A: A StackPower stack supports up to four switches, and it can run in power-sharing or redundant (N+1) mode.
