FAQs

Q: Is this ESP compatible with fixed-ESP models like ASR1001-X or ASR1002-X?
A: No. Removable ESPs are for modular ASR 1000 chassis that support ESP slots; fixed-ESP models do not accept them.

Q: Does the -N non-crypto variant support IPsec?
A: No. The non-crypto (-N) model does not provide IPsec hardware encryption.

Q: Do I need identical ESPs for redundancy?
A: Yes, matching ESP models and capacities are recommended for high availability pairs.

Q: Are software licenses included?
A: No. Feature licenses for IOS XE (e.g., security, MPLS, SD-WAN) are purchased separately.

Q: Which IOS XE release is required?
A: Refer to the ASR 1000 release compatibility matrix for minimum IOS XE versions supported by this ESP.

Q: Does this include line cards or SPAs?
A: No. Interfaces are provided by separate line cards or SIP/SPA modules.
