Description

The A900-IMA8Z is an 8-port 10 Gigabit Ethernet SFP+ interface module for Cisco ASR 900 Series aggregation routers. Each port takes a pluggable SFP+ transceiver, giving high-density 10GE connectivity for aggregation and metro Ethernet deployments. It supports synchronous Ethernet (SyncE) and online insertion and removal, and is supported in ASR 902, ASR 903 and ASR 907 chassis in the slots listed in the specifications.

A: It is supported in the ASR 903 (all slots with RSP3C-400-S), the ASR 902 (slot 0 with RSP3C-200-S) and the ASR 907 (slots 3, 4, 7, 8, 11 and 12).

Q: Can all eight ports run at 10GE in every configuration?
A: No. With an RSP3C-200-S in slot 0, a maximum of 6 ports can run at 10GE, and this must be explicitly enabled by CLI.

Q: What transceivers does this module use?
A: Each of the eight ports uses a pluggable SFP+ transceiver, so the optic type can be chosen to suit the required reach and fibre type.

Q: Does the module support 1GbE operation?
A: The hardware is ready to support 1GbE mode per group of four interfaces, with that capability provided by Cisco IOS XE software.

Q: Are there any slot restrictions to be aware of?
A: The module is not supported in any slot when an A900-IMA1C is present in slot 4.
