Description

The A900-IMA1Z8S-CXMS is a hot-swappable (OIR) interface module for the Cisco ASR 900 Series, combining eight 1GE SFP ports with one 10GE SFP+ port. It adds circuit emulation (CEM) and iMSG with SONET/SDH termination, processing up to 20G of traffic for TDM transport over packet networks. It suits service provider aggregation and mobile backhaul deployments built on ASR 900 chassis with an RSP3 module.

Q: Which chassis and route switch processor does this module support?
A: It is an interface module for the Cisco ASR 900 Series and is supported on the RSP3 module (A900-RSP3C-400-S/W).

Q: What software version is required?
A: Cisco IOS XE 16.12.1 or later is required. Packet over SONET (PoS) support is available from IOS XE 17.4.1.

Q: How does the 20G mode work on an ASR 907?
A: The module can operate in Single XFI (10G) or Dual XFI (20G) mode. On the ASR 907, 20G mode is available only in slots 3, 4, 7, 8, 11 and 12, while other slots run in 10G mode.

Q: Are there slot restrictions when installing this module?
A: It cannot be installed in slot 6 or slot 9 if an A900-IMA1X, A900-IMA2C or A900-IMA2F module is in the adjacent slot 7 or 8 respectively.

Q: Can the 10G port be used for SONET/SDH optics?
A: Yes. The 10GE SFP+ port can also be used as an OC-192/STM-64 SFP+ port, alongside the CEM and iMSG functions.
