Description

The Arista SFP-10G-T is a 10GBASE-T copper SFP+ transceiver designed for high-speed connectivity over existing copper infrastructure. Supporting up to 30m reach over Cat6a/Cat7 cables with an RJ45 interface, this module provides multi-rate auto-negotiation at 10G, 1G, and 100M speeds. IEEE 802.3an and IEEE 802.3az compliant, it delivers cost-effective 10 Gigabit Ethernet for enterprise networks, data centers, and intra-rack connections while enabling reuse of structured copper cabling.

FAQs

Q: What cable type is required for the SFP-10G-T transceiver?
A: The SFP-10G-T requires Cat6a or Cat7 cable for full 30m reach at 10Gbps. For 1G or 100M speeds, Cat5e or better cable can be used with the module's backward compatibility feature.

Q: Can this transceiver work in 1G or lower speed environments?
A: Yes, the SFP-10G-T supports multi-rate auto-negotiation and is backward compatible with 1000BASE-T and 100BASE-T, allowing it to operate at 1G or 100M speeds when connected to lower-speed endpoints using Cat5e cable or better.

Q: Which Arista platforms support the SFP-10G-T transceiver?
A: The SFP-10G-T is supported on all Arista SFP25 ports and select SFP+ ports depending on the platform. For specific platform compatibility, refer to Arista's Transceiver and Cable Guide or check with your Arista representative.

Q: What is the power consumption difference between SFP-10G-T and optical SFP+ modules?
A: The SFP-10G-T consumes approximately 2.5W maximum, which is higher than typical optical SFP+ modules due to the active copper PHY, echo cancellation, and signal equalization required for 10GBASE-T operation over twisted pair copper.

Q: Does this transceiver support Energy Efficient Ethernet?
A: Yes, the SFP-10G-T is IEEE 802.3az compliant and supports Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE), which reduces power consumption during idle or low-traffic periods, lowering operating costs in variable traffic environments.
