Description

This 100G QSFP28 transceiver supports 100GBASE-SR BD (BiDi) over duplex multimode fibre, using 850/910 nm wavelengths with LC connectors. It reaches 70m on OM3 and 100m on OM4, which makes it suited to short-reach 100G links between switches within a data centre or campus. The BiDi design carries 100G over a single duplex fibre pair, so existing duplex multimode cabling can be reused.

Enquire with XS Network Tech for new or used pricing and availability.

FAQs

Q: What fibre does this transceiver use?
A: It uses duplex multimode fibre with LC connectors. The supported reach is 70m on OM3 and 100m on OM4.

Q: What does BiDi mean for this module?
A: BiDi (bidirectional) optics use two wavelengths, 850 nm and 910 nm, so 100G traffic is carried over a duplex fibre pair rather than requiring parallel fibre.

Q: Which switch ports does it fit?
A: It is a QSFP28 module, so it is designed for QSFP28 ports that support 100G optics.

Q: Can it be used over single-mode fibre?
A: No. This module is specified for multimode fibre (OM3 and OM4), so single-mode fibre links need a different single-mode optic.
