Description

The Arista QDD-800G-2XDR4 is an 800GBASE-XDR8 QSFP-DD optical transceiver designed for high-bandwidth data center interconnects and AI/ML workloads. Supporting dual 400G XDR4 or 8x 100GBASE-FR1 breakout applications, this module delivers up to 850 Gbps throughput over 2km of single-mode fiber using dual MPO-12/APC connectors. Built with Broadcom DSP technology and PAM4 modulation, it enables flexible 800G to 2x 400G breakout connectivity without requiring breakout cables.

Features

FAQs

Q: What breakout configurations does the QDD-800G-2XDR4 support?
A: This transceiver supports 2x 400GBASE-XDR4 breakout (connecting to two separate 400G XDR4 modules) and 8x 100GBASE-FR1 breakout applications. The dual MPO-12 connectors enable direct connection to two physically separate 400G XDR4 QSFP-DD or QSFP112 modules without requiring breakout cables.

Q: Is the QDD-800G-2XDR4 interoperable with other vendor equipment?
A: Yes, as a standards-compliant 800GBASE-XDR8 module following QSFP-DD MSA and IEEE 802.3cu specifications, it interoperates with 2x 400G-XDR4 OSFP/QSFP-DD modules and 8x 100G-FR QSFP transceivers from multiple vendors over single-mode fiber.

Q: Can I use only one MPO-12 port for a 400G connection?
A: Yes, the module supports partial channel operation. You can connect only one of the MPO-12 ports to establish a single 400G DR4 link, though the total bandwidth will be reduced to 400G instead of the full 800G capacity.

Q: What is the difference between XDR4 and DR4 transceivers?
A: The QDD-800G-2XDR4 extends the reach of DR4 technology from 500m to 2km over single-mode fiber. Both use 1310nm wavelength and MPO-12 connectors, but XDR4 includes extended reach capabilities suitable for longer data center interconnects and campus networks.

Q: What platforms support the Arista QDD-800G-2XDR4?
A: This transceiver is designed for Arista switches with 800G QSFP-DD ports, typically found in their high-performance data center switching platforms. Consult Arista's Transceiver and Cable Guide for specific platform compatibility, as QSFP-DD ports require proper heatsink contact for thermal management.
