Description

The Arista QDD-800G-2FR4 is an 800GBASE-2FR4 QSFP-DD optical transceiver designed for high-density data centre interconnects. It supports breakout to 2x 400GBASE-FR4 via dual duplex CS connectors, eliminating the need for breakout cables. With a reach of up to 2km over single-mode fibre at 1310nm wavelength, this module delivers 800Gbps total throughput using 8x 106.25G PAM4 modulation, making it ideal for modern 800G Ethernet deployments and cloud networks.

FAQs

Q: What is the advantage of the dual CS connector design on the QDD-800G-2FR4?
A: The dual CS connector design allows the module to break out 800G into 2x 400G FR4 connections without requiring breakout cables. Each CS connector can directly connect to a separate 400G FR4 module via standard duplex single-mode fibre, simplifying cabling infrastructure and reducing costs.

Q: Is the QDD-800G-2FR4 compatible with Arista 800G switches?
A: Yes, this transceiver is designed for Arista Networks 800G-capable switches and platforms. It complies with QSFP-DD MSA standards and CMIS 5.0 management interface, ensuring compatibility with Arista hardware that supports 800G QSFP-DD modules. Always verify platform compatibility with Arista's Transceiver and Cable Guide.

Q: Can the QDD-800G-2FR4 operate as a full 800G connection?
A: Yes, the module can operate as a full 800G link over 2km of single-mode fibre, or it can be configured to break out into two independent 400G FR4 links. This flexibility allows network architects to scale bandwidth as needed.

Q: What is the typical power consumption of this 800G transceiver?
A: The QDD-800G-2FR4 typically consumes around 16W, with a maximum of 18W. This is consistent with other 800G QSFP-DD optical modules and should be accounted for in switch power budgets and cooling design.

Q: Does this transceiver support digital diagnostics monitoring?
A: Yes, the module includes digital diagnostics monitoring (DDM/DOM) functionality via the CMIS 5.0 interface, allowing real-time monitoring of temperature, voltage, transmit/receive optical power, and bias current for proactive network management.
