FAQs

Q: What is the maximum transmission distance for the QDD-400G-PLR4-S?
A: This transceiver supports up to 10 km over single-mode fiber using an MPO-12/APC connector at 1310nm wavelength, making it ideal for campus, data center interconnect, and metro applications.

Q: Does this module support breakout configurations?
A: Yes, the QDD-400G-PLR4-S supports 4x100G breakout mode, allowing a single 400G QSFP-DD port to connect to four separate QSFP28 100G-LR transceivers for flexible network topology designs.

Q: Is the QDD-400G-PLR4-S backward compatible with other form factors?
A: QSFP-DD ports are generally backward compatible with QSFP+, QSFP28, and QSFP56 modules depending on the switch platform. However, this specific 400G module requires a QSFP-DD port with 400G capability or breakout support.

Q: What type of fiber cable is required for this transceiver?
A: This module requires single-mode fiber (SMF) cable with an MPO-12/APC connector. The parallel optics design uses four fiber pairs for transmit and receive operations across the 10km distance.

Q: Is Digital Optical Monitoring supported on this module?
A: Yes, the QDD-400G-PLR4-S includes Digital Optical Monitoring (DOM) support, providing real-time access to operating parameters such as optical power, temperature, transmit bias current, and supply voltage for proactive network monitoring.
