FAQs

Q: What is the maximum transmission distance for the QDD-400G-LR8?
A: The QDD-400G-LR8 supports transmission distances up to 10km over duplex single-mode fiber (SMF) with Forward Error Correction (FEC) enabled on the host platform.

Q: Is this transceiver compatible with OSFP ports?
A: No, QSFP-DD and OSFP are different form factors and are not mechanically compatible. The QDD-400G-LR8 is designed exclusively for QSFP-DD ports and cannot be used in OSFP ports.

Q: What fiber type is required for this transceiver?
A: The QDD-400G-LR8 requires G.652 standard single-mode fiber (SMF) with duplex LC connectors. The actual transmission distance depends on fiber quality, insertion loss, and link budget.

Q: Does this module include Digital Diagnostics Monitoring?
A: Yes, the QDD-400G-LR8 includes DDM/DOM support via I2C interface, allowing real-time monitoring of optical output power, receive power, temperature, transmit bias current, and supply voltage.

Q: What is the difference between 400G-LR8 and 400G-LR4?
A: The LR8 uses 8 channels of 50G each (8x50G) on the optical path, while the LR4 uses 4 channels of 100G each (4x100G). This results in differences in laser count, power consumption, and cost, though both achieve 10km reach.
