Description

The Arista OSFP-800G-2FR4 is an 800G OSFP optical transceiver designed for high-performance data centre and AI/ML workloads. It delivers 800 Gigabit Ethernet throughput over single-mode fibre up to 2km using PAM4 modulation and dual duplex LC connectors. Compliant with IEEE 802.3ck and OSFP MSA standards, this module supports breakout to 2x 400G FR4 or 4x 200G applications, making it ideal for spine-leaf architectures, top-of-rack switch connectivity, and hyperscale cloud environments.

Features

800 Gigabit Ethernet over 8 channels of 106.25G PAM4 modulation
- CWDM4 wavelength multiplexing technology for efficient multi-channel transmission
- Supports 2x 400G FR4 or 4x 200G breakout configurations
- Hot-pluggable OSFP MSA compliant design
- Digital Diagnostics Monitoring (DDM/DOM) for real-time parameter monitoring via CMIS 5.0
- Low latency and low power consumption for high-density deployments
- Finned-top thermal management design for air-cooled switch environments
- IEEE 802.3ck and 802.3cu compliant for standards-based interoperability
- Compatible with Arista 7060X6 series and other 800G-capable platforms
- Optical interoperability with 400GBASE-FR4 and 200GBASE-FR4 modules

FAQs

Q: Can this transceiver break out to 2x 400G connections?
A: Yes, the OSFP-800G-2FR4 supports breakout to 2x 400GBASE-FR4 connections using two single-mode fibre patch cables with duplex LC connectors, or 4x 200G applications for increased port density.

Q: Is this compatible with QSFP-DD form factor switches?
A: No, OSFP and QSFP-DD are different physical form factors with different dimensions and are not physically compatible. However, they can interoperate optically if both use the same transceiver type such as FR4.

Q: What switches is this transceiver designed for?
A: This transceiver is designed for Arista 800G OSFP-equipped switches including the 7060X6 series and other high-performance data centre platforms supporting air-cooled finned-top OSFP modules.

Q: What applications is the 800G 2xFR4 best suited for?
A: Ideal for hyperscale data centres, AI/ML workloads, HPC computing, spine-leaf network architectures, top-of-rack switch uplinks, and inter-rack connections requiring high-bandwidth single-mode fibre links up to 2km.

Q: Does this transceiver require specific licensing?
A: No additional licensing is required for the transceiver itself. However, ensure your Arista switch is running compatible EOS software and has the necessary feature licenses for your network configuration.
