Description

The Arista 7020SR-32C2 from the 7020R Series is a 1RU fixed data centre switch built as a server-edge or top-of-rack leaf. It suits 1G/10G server connectivity with 100G uplinks, high-performance storage networks, hyper-converged racks and edge routing in leaf-spine designs. This -R variant uses rear-to-front airflow with AC power.

The switch provides 32 SFP+ ports that each run at 1GbE or 10GbE, plus 2 QSFP100 uplink ports. Throughput reaches 1.04 Tbps and forwarding reaches 300 Mpps, backed by a 3GB deep packet buffer and a Virtual Output Queue architecture that avoids head-of-line blocking. It runs Arista EOS with wire-speed Layer 2 and Layer 3 forwarding, up to 256K MAC entries and up to 200K IPv4/IPv6 routes. Typical power draw is 160 W with a 189 W maximum, and it is non-PoE.

The SFP+ ports accept 1G/10G optics and cables, and the QSFP100 ports accept 40G and 100G transceivers and cables. Power supplies are hot-swappable 1+1 AC units, and fan modules must match the rear-to-front airflow direction.

FAQs

Q: Does this switch need a software licence?
A: It runs Arista EOS, and the default image includes a broad Layer 2 feature set. Advanced features are enabled with optional EOS software licences.

Q: What power supplies does it use?
A: It uses hot-swappable 1+1 AC power supplies, model PWR-400AC, rated 100-240 VAC. Typical draw is 160 W and maximum draw is 189 W. It does not provide PoE.

Q: What optics work with the ports?
A: The 32 SFP+ ports take 1G or 10G SFP/SFP+ optics and cables. The 2 QSFP100 ports take 40G and 100G QSFP transceivers and cables.

Q: What does the -R suffix mean?
A: The -R suffix denotes rear-to-front airflow. Fan modules must match this airflow direction.

Q: Can the QSFP100 ports run at lower speeds?
A: Yes. The switch supports up to 8 x 25GbE ports or 2 x 40GbE ports in addition to the 100GbE operation.
