Description

The Arista 7020SR-24C2 is a 1RU data centre switch from the 7020R Series, built for dedicated server leaf, hyper-converged infrastructure and high-performance storage networks. It runs Arista EOS and forwards Layer 2 and Layer 3 traffic at wire speed, with a 3GB packet buffer to absorb bursts without head-of-line blocking.

The front panel provides 24 SFP+ ports, each running at 1G or 10G, plus two 100G QSFP100 uplinks that can be broken out to 4x10G, 4x25G or 40G modes. Throughput is 880 Gbps and forwarding is 300 Mpps, with latency from 3.8 microseconds. This hash-suffix SKU is the configurable build: airflow direction (front-to-rear or rear-to-front) and the AC or DC 1+1 hot-swap power supplies are selected at order. It does not include IPSec. Typical power draw is 95W, with a maximum of 105W.

The SFP+ ports accept 10GBASE-CR, AOC, SR, LR, ER, ZR and DWDM optics along with 1GbE SX/LX modules. The QSFP ports accept 40G and 100G optics and cables, including breakout cables.

FAQs

Q: What does the hash in DCS-7020SR-24C2# mean?
A: The hash marks the configurable build-to-order version, where the airflow direction (front-to-rear or rear-to-front) and the power supplies (AC or DC) are chosen at order time.

Q: Which licences does this switch use?
A: It runs Arista EOS (minimum 4.21.0) and uses the Group 1 fixed-switch feature licences: LIC-FIX-1-E for Enhanced L3 routing, LIC-FIX-1-Z for Monitoring and Automation, and LIC-FIX-1-V for Virtualisation including VXLAN.

Q: What power supplies and fans can this switch use?
A: It takes two hot-swap 1+1 power supplies, either PWR-500AC (100-240VAC) or PWR-500-DC (-48 to -60 VDC). The three N+1 fans are FAN-7000-F for front-to-rear airflow or FAN-7000-R for rear-to-front. Typical draw is 95W and maximum draw is 105W.

Q: What optics and cables fit the SFP+ and QSFP100 ports?
A: SFP+ ports take 10GBASE-CR, AOC, SRL, SR, LRL, LR, ER, ZR and DWDM optics, plus 1GbE SX/LX and 100/1000BASE-T modules. QSFP ports take 40G and 100G optics and cables, including 4x10G and 25G breakout cables.

Q: Can the 100G ports be used at lower speeds?
A: Yes. The QSFP100 ports support 100G and can be broken out for 10G, 25G or 40G modes.
