Description

This 100GBASE-CR4 direct attach cable connects two 100G QSFP28 ports using passive Twinax copper over a 2 metre reach. Built with 30 AWG cabling, it is a low-power, cost-effective option for short in-rack and adjacent-rack 100GbE links in data centre and campus aggregation environments. Its hot-swappable QSFP100 connectors support high-density deployments, and it is part of the CAB-Q-Q-100G family.

Enquire with XS Network Tech for new or used pricing and availability.

FAQs

Q: What type of link does this cable provide?
A: It provides a 100GBASE-CR4 link between two QSFP28 (QSFP100) ports using passive Twinax copper over a 2 metre length.

Q: Is this a passive or active cable?
A: It is a passive cable, so there is no signal amplification. This keeps power consumption low and suits short in-rack or adjacent-rack connections.

Q: What minimum EOS version is required?
A: The CAB-Q-Q-100G family requires a minimum EOS version of 4.15.2.

Q: How does this differ from other CAB-Q-Q-100G lengths?
A: The family shares the same 100GBASE-CR4 QSFP28-to-QSFP28 design and differs by length. This SKU is the 2 metre, 30 AWG version, while other lengths include 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2.5, 3 and 5 m.

Q: Can it be used for longer runs between distant racks?
A: Passive copper DACs are intended for short reach. For longer distances, an optical transceiver or active optical cable is the better choice.
