Description

This passive 100GBASE-CR4 twinax copper direct attach cable has QSFP connectors at both ends and a length of 0.5 metres. It is designed for very short 100G links between Arista QSFP 100G ports, such as top-of-rack and adjacent-rack connections in data centres. As a passive copper cable it avoids the cost of separate optical transceivers for short-reach runs. It is part of the 100G QSFP twinax copper range, with the 0.5 metre length suited to tight in-rack and neighbouring-port connections.

Q: Does this cable require FEC?
A: Reed-Solomon (RS) FEC applies to the QSFP-to-QSFP copper cables in the CAB-Q-Q-100G range, so the connected ports should be configured accordingly.

Q: Can a 100G QSFP copper cable be used for 40G links?
A: Arista 100G QSFP copper cables can be used for 40G, but 40G cables cannot be used for 100G.
