FAQs

Q: What is the maximum reach of the CAB-D-D-400G-3M cable?
A: This passive direct attach copper cable has a fixed length of 3 metres and is designed for short-reach connectivity within or between adjacent racks in data centres.

Q: Is this cable compatible with other vendor 400G QSFP-DD switches?
A: Yes, the cable is built to QSFP-DD MSA industry standards and should be compatible with any switch or device with standard 400G QSFP-DD ports, though full compatibility testing with your specific equipment is recommended.

Q: Can this cable support lower speed breakout configurations?
A: This is a standard 400G QSFP-DD to QSFP-DD cable. For breakout applications (e.g., 4x100G or 8x50G), you would need specific breakout DAC cables with the appropriate connector configurations.

Q: What are the advantages of DAC cables over optical transceivers?
A: Direct attach copper cables are more cost-effective than optical modules, consume less power, generate less heat, and are ideal for short-distance connections within racks or between adjacent racks. They eliminate the need for separate transceivers and fibre patch cables.

Q: Does this cable require any special configuration or licensing?
A: No, passive DAC cables are plug-and-play devices that do not require any software licensing or special configuration. They are automatically detected when inserted into compatible QSFP-DD ports.
