Description

Passive twinax copper direct attach breakout cable that splits one 400G QSFP-DD port into eight 50G SFP connections. Supporting 400GBASE-CR8 on the QSFP-DD end and 50GBASE-CR on each SFP leg, it provides a short-reach, low-latency link without separate optical transceivers. The 2.5m length suits in-rack and adjacent-rack connections between high-density 400G switches and 50G servers or storage.

Enquire with XS Network Tech for new or used pricing and availability.

FAQs

Q: What does this breakout cable connect?
A: It connects one 400G QSFP-DD port to eight separate 50G SFP ports, allowing a single high-speed switch port to serve multiple 50G devices.

Q: Is this a passive or active cable?
A: It is a passive twinax copper cable, so it contains no powered optical components and is intended for short-reach connections.

Q: What length is this cable?
A: This SKU is 2.5m. Other lengths are separate SKUs, so confirm the length that suits your rack layout before ordering.

Q: Which standards does it support?
A: The QSFP-DD end uses 400GBASE-CR8 and each of the eight SFP legs uses 50GBASE-CR.

Q: Can it be used for long-distance links between buildings?
A: No. Passive copper DACs are designed for short in-rack or adjacent-rack runs. For longer distances, use fibre cabling with suitable optical transceivers.
