Description

This passive twinax copper breakout cable connects one 200G QSFP-DD port to four QSFP ports running at 50G each. It suits short-reach, in-rack or adjacent-rack connections in data centre top-of-rack deployments, where a QSFP-DD switch port needs to feed multiple lower-speed QSFP ports.

The cable is 2.5 m long and uses 200GBASE-CR8 on the QSFP-DD end, splitting into 4 x 50GBASE-CR2 on the QSFP ends. The QSFP-DD port must be configured for 200G using 8 x 25G NRZ electrical lanes. Being passive, it contains no active electronics and draws any power it needs from the host port.

The breakout design allows interoperability with legacy 100G QSFP and 25G SFP ports. It belongs to the Arista 400G QSFP-DD twinax copper breakout cable family, which is offered in 1 m, 2 m and 2.5 m lengths.
