Description

This passive twinax direct-attach breakout cable connects one 200G QSFP-DD port to four 50G QSFP ports, supporting 200GBASE-CR8 and 50GBASE-CR2 signalling. At 2.5m in length, it suits short in-rack and adjacent-rack runs where a copper link between a high-density 200G switch port and multiple 50G devices is needed. The passive copper construction avoids the cost and complexity of optical transceivers for short-reach data centre connections.

Enquire with XS Network Tech for new or used pricing and availability.

FAQs

Q: What does this cable connect?
A: It connects one 200G QSFP-DD port on one end to four 50G QSFP ports on the other end, splitting a single high-speed port into four lower-speed links.

Q: Is this an active or passive cable?
A: It is a passive twinax copper cable, so it contains no active signal-conditioning electronics and relies on the host ports for signal drive.

Q: How long is the cable?
A: This SKU is 2.5m in length, which suits short links within a rack or to an adjacent rack.

Q: What Ethernet standards does it use?
A: The cable is specified for 200GBASE-CR8 on the QSFP-DD side and 50GBASE-CR2 on each of the four breakout legs.

Q: Can it be used for long-distance links?
A: No. Passive copper DAC cables are intended for short-reach connections. For longer distances, optical transceivers with fibre cabling are the appropriate choice.
