Description

This 20 metre 25GBASE-AOC cable terminates in SFP28 connectors at both ends and runs over multimode fibre at 850nm. It is designed for short-reach 25GbE links within a rack or between adjacent racks, such as top-of-rack and spine-leaf data centre connections. The integrated active optics make it lighter and more flexible than a copper DAC, and less susceptible to EMI.

Enquire with XS Network Tech for new or used pricing and availability.

FAQs

Q: What is the maximum reach of this cable?
A: The cable is a fixed 20m length, supporting 25GbE links over multimode fibre at 850nm.

Q: Does this cable use SFP28 ports on both ends?
A: Yes. It is an SFP28-to-SFP28 active optical cable, so both ends plug directly into SFP28 ports on switches or network adapters.

Q: How does an AOC differ from a copper DAC?
A: An AOC has optical transceivers built into each end and carries the signal over fibre. This makes it lighter, more flexible and less susceptible to EMI than a copper DAC, and it supports longer lengths.

Q: Does this cable support hot-plugging?
A: Yes. The SFP28 form factor is hot-pluggable, so the cable can be installed or removed without powering down the equipment.

Q: What is the operating temperature range?
A: This is a commercial-grade cable rated for 0 to 70°C operation.
