Description

This passive mechanical adapter lets a 100G QSFP28 optical module, or a 40G QSFP module, be installed in an OSFP port. It suits data centre and campus deployments that need backward compatibility with existing QSFP optics on OSFP-based switches. The OSFP port must be configured for 100G, using 4 x 25G NRZ electrical lanes, and the wavelength, reach and power draw are determined by the inserted QSFP module.

Enquire with XS Network Tech for new or used pricing and availability.

Features

- Enables 100G QSFP optical modules in an OSFP port when the port is configured for 100G
- Provides backward compatibility with 40G and 100G QSFP optics in OSFP ports
- Passive design with no active electronics in the adapter itself
- Optical reach and media type are set by the QSFP module that is fitted

Warranty

All products sold by XS Network Tech include a 12-month warranty on both new and used items. Our in-house technical team thoroughly tests used hardware prior to sale to ensure enterprise-grade reliability.

All technical data should be verified on the manufacturer data sheets.

FAQs

Q: What does the ADPT-O-Q-100G adapter do?
A: It is a passive mechanical adapter that allows a 100G QSFP28 optical module, or a 40G QSFP module, to be inserted into an OSFP port.

Q: Does the OSFP port need any configuration?
A: Yes. The OSFP port must be configured for 100G (or 40G), using 4 x 25G NRZ electrical lanes, for the inserted QSFP module to operate.

Q: Can I use copper cables or 200G QSFP modules with this adapter?
A: No. Copper cables and 200G QSFP optical modules should not be used with this adapter. It is intended for 100G QSFP optical modules.

Q: Can it be used to install a QSFP-DD module in an OSFP port?
A: No. The adapter does not allow a QSFP-DD module to be used in an OSFP port. It supports 100G QSFP optical modules only.

Q: What determines the reach and wavelength?
A: The adapter itself is passive, so wavelength, reach and power draw are determined by the QSFP module that is installed in it.
