Description

This 550W variable DC power supply module is built for the Juniper EX4400-48F-S fibre access and aggregation switch. It suits sites that supply high-voltage DC, such as telecom and industrial DC-powered facilities, and it can be installed as a redundant pair for continuous operation.

The unit accepts a wide 120 to 310 VDC input at a 7 A rated current and delivers 550W of output power. It is the front-to-back airflow (AFO) version, identified by the AIR OUT label and orange handle, with its own internal fan for independent cooling. Fitting two modules gives fully redundant, load-sharing operation, and each is a hot-insertable, hot-removable field replaceable unit with an OUT.OK status LED.

It is supported only on the EX4400-48F-S model and should be used with front-to-back airflow fan modules. AC, standard DC and variable DC power supplies, or units with a different airflow direction, must not be mixed in the same chassis. No licence is needed for the power supply itself.

FAQs

Q: Which switch does this power supply fit?
A: It is supported only on the Juniper EX4400-48F-S, which has 12 x 10GbE SFP+ and 36 x 1GbE SFP fibre ports.

Q: What input voltage does it need?
A: It runs from a 120 to 310 VDC variable DC supply at a 7 A rated input current and delivers 550W of output power. It is not an AC or -48 V DC unit.

Q: Can I mix it with AC or standard DC power supplies?
A: No. AC, DC and variable DC power supplies must not be mixed in the same chassis, and neither should units with different airflow directions.

Q: Which fan modules should I use with it?
A: Use front-to-back (AFO) airflow fan modules so the airflow direction matches this power supply.

Q: Does it need a licence?
A: No licence is needed for the power supply itself. Switch software features are licensed separately on the host EX4400 switch.

Q: Which power cable does it use?
A: Juniper specifies an HVDC cable rated 25 A, 400 V, 3 m, with a plug at one end and bare wire at the other, such as CBL-EX-PWR-SDG-INT. Country-specific models are available.
