FAQs

Q: When do I need a mode conditioning patch cable?
A: Use MCP when running 1000BASE-LX/LH optics over multimode fiber to minimize DMD, especially on longer MMF links.

Q: How do I connect the MCP correctly?
A: Connect the single-mode leg to the transmitter side of the LX/LH transceiver and the multimode leg to the receiver side, following the labeled ends.

Q: Can I use this with 62.5 µm fiber?
A: This version is optimized for 50/125 µm MMF. For 62.5 µm plants, use an MCP specified for 62.5 µm.

Q: Is this needed for 1000BASE-SX?
A: No. MCP is specifically for LX/LH (1310 nm) over multimode fiber, not for SX (850 nm).
