FAQs

Q: Which chassis models support the DCS-7800R3A-36D2-LC line card?
A: This line card is compatible with all Arista 7800R3 Series chassis including the 4-slot DCS-7804, 8-slot DCS-7808, 12-slot DCS-7812, 16-slot DCS-7816, and DCS-7816L models, providing flexibility for scalable data center deployments.

Q: What speeds can each QSFP-DD port support on this line card?
A: Each QSFP-DD port supports multiple speeds including 400G, 200G, 100G, 50G, 40G, 25G, and 10G using appropriate transceivers and breakout cables, delivering up to 232 total interfaces per line card when fully broken out to 10G/25G.

Q: Does the DCS-7800R3A-36D2-LC support encryption features?
A: The base -36D2 model does not include MACsec or TunnelSec encryption capabilities. For integrated encryption, consider the DCS-7800R3A-36DM2-LC variant which supports enhanced MACsec, IPsec, and VXLANsec at line rate.

Q: What routing scale does this line card support?
A: The DCS-7800R3A-36D2-LC includes FlexRoute engine support for internet-scale routing tables with flexible forwarding database allocation across MAC, routing, host, and ARP tables, ideal for cloud spine, internet peering, and DCI applications.

Q: Can I mix different 7800R3 line card models in the same chassis?
A: Yes, Arista 7800R3 chassis can accommodate any combination of 7800R3 and 7800R3A series line cards, providing deployment flexibility for mixed-density, mixed-speed, and mixed-feature configurations within the same system.
