This DOCSIS 2.0 cable modem module is designed for the Cisco Aironet 1520 Series of outdoor mesh access points. It allows an access point to use a cable (HFC) network for backhaul, which suits outdoor wireless mesh deployments where cable plant is already in place.
The module is built to the DOCSIS 2.0 standard, which is the attribute that separates it from other backhaul options for the Aironet 1520 Series. It is an add-on module for the access point rather than a standalone device, so it is intended for networks that already run Aironet 1520 outdoor mesh hardware.
